Harrisburg Community Fire Department

The Harrisburg Community Fire Department (HCFD) is a volunteer organization that serves the city of Harrisburg and the surrounding townships of Dayton, La Valley, Delapre and Springdale. HCFD is allowed 40 members by our by-laws.  The HCFD is led by nine officers and one administrative executive: Fire Chief- Cody Lengkeek, Assistant Chief- Kyle Vanden Brink, 2nd Assistant- Eric Hoogendoorn, Medical Captain- Shayne Rose, Safety Captain- Cory Riemersma, Training Captain- Mike Worden, Treasurer- Taylor Berg, Secretary- David Rennich, and President- Eric Gast.  

 The HCFD Auxiliary seeks to support the Fire department and engage the community. It is made up of family and friends of department members who volunteer their time to reach the above goal.  They assist in event planning, fundraising, and supporting both department members and their families. A few examples of this are their annual Community Night event, bringing meals to the department during long fire calls, and hosting potlucks or events for department families. 

We are thrilled to announce a new opportunity coming to Harrisburg starting in January 2025!

This program will be open to youth in Harrisburg (ages 14-20) that have an interest in learning about the Fire Service or becoming involved in a Fire Service.

Explorers will meet each month to learn about the many aspects of responding to fire, rescue, and/or medical emergencies.  There will also be opportunities to interact with the Harrisburg Community Fire Department, field trips, hands on skills practice, and volunteering/serving in the community.
